Martin's journey from academia to technology is truly inspiring. He retired from his role as a tenured Professor of Microbial Biotechnology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology to start a company in Ōtepoti Dunedin. His transition from academia to the tech industry highlights his commitment to leveraging scientific innovation to create real-world impact.

Martin's academic journey is equally remarkable. He studied Biology at the University of Wuerzburg in Germany, completing an external Master's thesis at the University of Chicago. He earned a PhD from Arizona State University (USA) and held postdoctoral appointments at:
